Baramati Education

Baramati has created a niche for itself in the field of education. Last decade has seen growth of Baramati as a Prominent Education Center with Colleges and Schools ranging from Engineering to BioTechnology to Law.

Baramati and surround area has three major places which have become well know education centers in the state.

Vidya Pratishthan [3]offers courses from Primary Education to Masters Degree. Vidyanagari has a Law College, College of Engineering [4], School of BioTechnology, Institute of Information Technology, MBA, MCA apart from Primary School and Arts, Commerce, Science College.

Tuljaram Chaturchand College has junior college and a senior college with well equipped staff following the latest trends in the market.The junior college here is one of the best in the district competting with FC and Wadia college.Senior college also provides graduation in science,commerce and arts.

Sharadabai Pawar Campus offers dedicated college for girls. Courses here include Basic Graduation, Junior College and Bachelors Degree in Education.

Campus in Malegaon [5]offers wide range of Technology and Management Courses. The campus has an Engineering College, a Management Institute and a Pharmacy College.

Baramati also has a one Technical High-school which offers different Technical courses which is useful to make engineering base strong enough at school level only.

On the way of Patas road,Shri Chatrapati Shahu Highschool & Jr. College,Baramati where Sharad Pawar Studied for one year(1954-55) in 8th standard.Also Sharad Pawar married with Pratibhatai in this school on Aug.1,1967.

MIDC Industries

Baramati and surrounding areas mostly depend on Agriculture as the main source of income. The land in the region is very well fertilized and Canals from Nira river provides Water supply to farms.
Main crops include SugarCane, Grapes, Jawari, Cotton and Wheat. Grapes and Sugar is exported from here. There is a huge Market place for cotton and food grains in the city.
Apart from agriculture Baramati is home for a lot of industries which range from Steel Processing to Wine making.There is a project of winery proposed by Vijay Malya along with Sharad Pawar.
Baramati uses 800 hectares of land as MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) Industrial Area along Baramati-Bhigwan Road, 5 km outside Baramati town's municipal limits.
Indian Seamless Metal Tubes ISMT, Piaggio Automobiles, Dynamix Dairy, Baramati Grape Industries, Spantex Ltd, Somani Textiles are based in Baramati. Apart from these big industries Baramati has a host of other Middle and Small Scale industries in Area.
